Yes. We recommend maintaining a major medical insurance plan, often with a high deductible and health savings account (HSA), to provide financial protection for hospitalizations, specialty care, imaging, or emergency services that fall outside of primary care.

Yes! Beginning January 2026, federal legislation allows HSA funds to be used to pay for Direct Primary Care memberships and related services. This means you’ll be able to use HSA dollars for your AfyaGM monthly membership and eligible services such as labs and medications, offering meaningful tax savings compared to paying with after-tax income.

Our goal is to provide excellent access and comprehensive care to help prevent unnecessary hospitalizations or referrals whenever possible. If hospital care or specialty care is needed, we remain involved working with hospital teams and coordinating closely with specialists to support your care. When appropriate, specialists will manage specific aspects of treatment while we continue to help guide and coordinate your overall care.

For non-urgent questions, please use our secure patient portal to message your provider and access your medical record. Most messages are answered within one business day.
